CUTTING EDGE TRUESIGHT™ VR DRIVER ROUTE LEARNING

Virtual training for train drivers is transforming the way railway operators are trained, offering a safer, more cost-effective, and highly immersive experience. Traditional training methods, while effective, often require access to actual trains and tracks, leading to logistical challenges and high operational costs. With our Truesight™ virtual reality (VR) and 3D simulations, train drivers can now be trained in a controlled, virtual environment that replicates real-world scenarios without the need for physical resources.

TAILORED DRIVER ROUTE LEARNING PROGRAMS

Our Virtual training programs offer a highly detailed simulation of a train's cockpit, controls, and surroundings, allowing drivers to practice operating in various conditions—from normal routes to emergency situations like mechanical failures or adverse weather conditions. This immersive environment helps trainees gain a deeper understanding of train operations and decision-making, improving their responsiveness to real-world situations.

One of the significant advantages of virtual 3D training is its flexibility. Drivers can train from anywhere with the right equipment, and their performance can be tracked and analysed in real-time. Instructors can easily simulate uncommon or dangerous situations, ensuring drivers are prepared for any circumstance. This level of customisation improves learning outcomes and reduces the risk of accidents during real operations.

CONSIDERABLE COST SAVINGS & OTHER BENEFITS

Additionally, the cost benefits are considerable. Virtual training eliminates the need for fuel, track access, or expensive physical simulators. It also minimises disruptions to regular train services.

As our Truesight™ technology advances, the integration of artificial intelligence into virtual 3D training can further enhance the experience by providing personalised feedback and adaptive learning paths. Overall, our Truesight™ virtual training is revolutionising the railway industry by delivering a safer, more efficient, and effective method for training the next generation of train drivers.

Simulating the Train Drivers Environment

The Truesight™ model uses Unreal Engine’s "Game Mode" to simulate the driver’s eye perspective, along with a Human-Machine Interface (HMI) display set and tools. This allows for adjustments, testing, and approval of proposals from the driver’s perspective before being finalised with the signal sighting committee. By simulating the environment virtually, logistical challenges associated with physically driving a train are avoided.

Human Eye Perspective Simulation

The enhanced perspective field of view (zoom) in the gaming engine mimics real-life human vision, providing users with an immersive and lifelike experience.

Advanced Rendering Algorithms

The platform’s rendering algorithms produce highly realistic and efficient simulations. This level of visual quality ensures that models are driver-route learning-ready.

High-Fidelity Models

The quality of simulations makes them suitable for multiple uses, including stakeholder engagement, public relations, trackworker safety and site awareness briefings.

Compliance and Practical Application

The model ensures that driver briefing materials meet industry standards and legal obligations.

A real-world example of the Truesight™ application was used in the Network Rail Crewe Programme demonstrating efficiency and precision for this major rail infrastructure project.

So, if you’re responsible for delivering a rail infrastructure project that falls under the requirements for enhanced driver briefing material, then our cutting edge Truesight™ signal sighting model can help you achieve compliant results.
